I have learned that people either believe the Holy Bible, or they don't. But the real reason will never be the reasons they give, it will ALWAYS be because that is what they wanted to believe. I would simply ask your friend... Do you really believe that all the wonderful foods, animals, stars, nature, oceans, birds, music, sunsets, mountains, colors, love, rainbows, and blessings of life... JUST HAPPENED? When I look at all the beautiful things in this life, I SEE GOD, and that is exactly what the Bible teaches...

Romans 1:20, “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.”

No one has any excuses! There's no such thing as an atheist, only fools who don't want to believe in God. For the honest and thankful person, we want to acknowledge God because He is a good God!

2nd Corinthians 4:16-18, “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”

The Holy Bible plainly teaches that the things which are unseen are eternal, and the things which are seen, temporal. Faith is a matter of placing our trust in an unseen Christ.

1st Peter 1:7-9, “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”

The Absurdity of Claiming to Be An Atheist!

I have a classic book in front of me published in the year 1868, titled “GOD IN HISTORY and GOD IN SCIENCE,” authored by London Pastor John Cumming (1807-1881).^[1] May I say kindly, there's no such thing as an atheist! Some of the world's wealthiest celebrities have the stench of Hell on them, which is where they are all going, blaspheming the very God Who is kind to them. Luke 6:35b, “...for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.”

Legendary singer Billy Joel is a professed atheist...

“I gradually decided that just because I didn't have or couldn't find the ultimate answer didn't mean I was going to buy the religious fairytale. As an atheist you have to rationalize things.” —Billy Joel

On page 139 of his book, “GOD IN HISTORY and GOD IN SCIENCE,” Pastor John Cumming makes a brilliant observation concerning professed atheists...

Atheism is folly as much as wickedness. But suffer me, before I show this, to say, that it is absolutely impossible that any man can be an atheist, in the strict sense of that word. All that any can say is this: “No spot that I have searched does reveal a God; every organization I have examined does not show traces of wisdom, goodness, and design:” but that individual cannot say; “There is no God;” because he cannot say, “I have soared to the farthest star, I have descended to the deepest mines, I have swept all space, and searched all time, and in the realms of infinite space I have not detected any traces of a God.” In other words, to be able to say, “There is no God,” you must yourself assume to be God, which is a reductio ad absurdum, an utter and a complete absurdity.

What a brilliant observation. How can any man claim to be an atheist unless he has traveled to the farthest place in the universe? The nearest star to the earth (after our own sun) is Alpha Centauri, which is 4.37 light-years away (28,200,000,000,000 miles away!). This is just one star, being the closest to earth besides our own sun, which is 93,000,000,000 miles away. My friend, the Hubble Space Telescope has discovered that there are at least 200,000,000,000 galaxies in the universe. And each of those galaxies contains BILLIONS of stars! It is anticipated that when the James Webb Telescope is launched in 2018 from NASA, that it will discover over ONE TRILLION GALAXIES!!!

The Word of God teaches that God made the stars. I love how Genesis 1:16 is written... “HE MADE THE STARS ALSO.” It's like the Bible is saying, “Oh, by the way, God also made all the stars!” I was reading recently that astronomers have discovered 300 sextillion stars so far.^[1] That was back in 2010 that the discovery was made. That is far more stars than grains of sand upon the earth. Astronomers will never be able to determine the total number of stars. Genesis 1:16, “And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.” 

God is amazing, Who knows the exact number of stars that He created, and he calls them each by their own name. Amen! Psalms 147:4, “He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.” I have just briefly discussed the stars. The world that exists under a microscope is even more amazing, complex and a mystery to mankind. How can anyone reasonably claim to be an atheist when man hasn't even discovered what's in 90% of the earth's oceans? Pastor John Cumming is so right... For anyone to say, “There is no God!,” you must yourself assume to be God! No human being has traveled to the ends of the universe. In fact, no human being has ever even left the Milky Way Solar System. Psalms 145:3, “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.”

John Cumming was a Scottish minister who was well-known for his anti-Catholic writings and preaching. Amen for that! One of the biggest evidences of apostasy in the United States today is that hardly any professed Christians, evangelicals and clergy criticize the damned Roman Catholic religion. Catholicism teaches sacramental salvation, which is a manmade teaching that goes totally contrary to the inspired Words of God in the Bible. Roman and Russian Orthodox Catholicism are of the Devil. The pope is not the vicar of Heaven, but of Hell. Mary was born by normal conception, did not remain a virgin, and died a sinner's death like all human beings. Only Jesus Christ was born of a virgin and lived a sinless life. Thank God that Pastor John Cumming exposed the Catholic church for what it is, of the Devil.
 

All Atheists Are Manmade

There is no such thing as a true atheist. They are all manmade. People CHOOSE either to believe, or not believe, in God. The natural world around us shouts the existence and handiwork of an omnipotent, wise and good God. Did you ever stop to realize that most atheists come out of the big cities, where most of what they see is concrete buildings, skyscrapers and manmade things? You can hardly see any stars in the cities, because of the city's abundance of lights that hide the light of God's thousands of visible stars.

Instead of seeing a forest of God's trees, people see a fortress of manmade homes made of wood. Instead of seeing the magnificence of God's creation, they see the glory of man's architecture. Instead of seeing the grace of God, they see the accomplishments of men. You don't find too many atheist farmers, who grew up out in rural areas, amongst God-fearing folks. But in the big cities today, which are worse than Sodom and Gomorrah in the Old Testament, you'll find an abundance of sin-loving atheists!

God only knows how many young people, who once had faith in God, were convinced that there is no God while being indoctrinated in some heathen state university. 1st Corinthians 1:21, “For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” Romans 1:22, “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.” Some of the biggest fools, and most woefully ignorant people, are college professors. 2nd Timothy 3:7, “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

I never recommend that young people attend a secular university for that very reason, because you cannot eat at the Devil's table without getting food poisoning. (I think trade schools are okay though.) Psalms 1:1-2, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” Never let someone mess with your head. Proverbs 4:23, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Don't casually read over Proverbs 4:23 without acquiring the full meaning of its warning from God... “KEEP THY HEART WITH ALL DILIGENCE”!!! That means to the best of your ability, be careful what you subject your soul to. Don't subject yourself to unsaved professors who dishonor God. Psalms 14:1a, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt...” You don't need corrupt professors!
 

Why People Do the Things They Do

If you ask people why they do the things they do in life, they will give you sensible sounding reasons which seem logical to explain their decisions. We like to believe that we exercise sound judgment, especially in the important decisions of our lives. 

However, I think that this is rarely true. I think that standard operating procedure for human decision making is to do what feels right to you at the time, and then to give logical sounding justifications for what you were already going to do anyway, whether you had justifications or not. 

So, if you are pregnant, and want to get an abortion, you will be able to give any number of reasonable sounding explanations why this is the right decision. You're not ready to be a parent, or you need to finish your education or get to a better point in your career, or you don't have enough money, et cetera. 

If instead you want to keep the baby, you will explain how (even though you will have some extra difficulties due to the lack of money or whatever) you will certainly be up to the challenge to make your life work with the baby, how being a parent will be good for you, what a great parent you'll make, how it will bring you and the father closer together, and so on. 

In either case, none of these will be the real reason for your decision. The real reason for your decision will always be, “I did it because I wanted to do it.”

Likewise, people CHOOSE to become atheists because that is what THEY WANT TO DO. We find Biblical evidence for this truth in the true account of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16. Both of these men died. The rich man went to Hell. Lazarus was escorted by angels to Abraham's bosom (the Paradise side of Hades). Younce's great book titled, “A BIBLICAL EXAMINATION OF HELL” (a free .pdf book. Hard copies are available). Luke 16:31, “And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”
